Farm tours

Guided tours are available for groups wishing to find out about the technologies and energy saving measures used at Beacon Energy, tours are adapted to suit the needs and interests of particular groups.

West Beacon farm tours

The tours (pdf link) take you around the farm and explain each of the technologies used, you will see the two wind turbines, the photovoltaic (solar) arrays and the lake which provides hydro power.

You will also be shown around the hydrogen energy storage system, the rainwater collection and storage system and see the electric and hybrid cars.

All of these technologies, together with many other features, will be clearly explained and demonstrated by the guide and there is plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

If your group has specific interests we are happy to tailor the tour accordingly if you let us know in advance.

School visits

Beacon Energy feels it’s particularly important to make the younger generation aware of the environmental issues facing the planet today, and to educate them about the positive things they can do to help the situation. It is important for our future that the next generation has a good understanding of renewable energy technologies.

We are happy to arrange for school visits (pdf link) and will individually tailor them so they are suitable and interesting for the age group in question. We make a point of emphasising the positive impact individuals can make, with the aim of promoting personal responsibility.

Participation and questions are encouraged throughout the tour.

Tours and visits duration

All farm tours take approximately two hours. Depending on the weather and the time of year, conditions can be wet and muddy, all visitors are advised to bring wet weather clothing and appropriate footwear.
